Football Season

This is a great time of year. Although I really love the summer, the fall has it's ups too. I love the fact that baseball season is peaking (and the Padres are in the title hunt) the Chargers have started 2-0 thumping both the hated Raiders and the Tiny Titans, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish reached number 2 in the poles before getting spanked by Michigan. Speaking of ND my wife and I are going there next week. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Irish play Purdue at Notre Dame Stadium. I'm also going to check out Granger Community Church (gccwired.com). It's a very creative church, upbeat, exciting, etc. The church is located just five minutes or so from Notre Dame. I was last at Notre Dame in 1994. I was playing baseball for the Madison Hatters (St. Louis Cardinals) minor league team. We were in town playing the South Bend Silver Hawks (Chicago White Sox) minor league team. Myself and a couple of teammates decided to check out ND and went out onto the ND football field, hung on the goal posts, ran on the field until someone (I think it was Rudy) kicked us out of the stadium. But it was great going through the campus and hanging out. My wife and I will be there from Thursday through Sunday. We'll enjoy lunch with coach Charlie Weiss and a couple of players, we'll attend the pep rally on Friday night, the College football hall of fame on Saturday morning and the game on Saturday afternoon...what a weekend! I'll show you the pictures when we get back.

This is also a great time of year because my 5 year old boy Riley has started school. It's such a great transition seeing him start that process. It's a long day for a 5 year old...but he's already learning so much. Putting him the great school we did means sacrifices for daddy. So, daddy sold his golf cart...yep, sure did, and some other "extra" golf stuff like back up clubs, etc. That's alright, it's for a great cause...maybe another day, another cart...more golf...some day???? Maybe?????
