Thank you for joining me on my blog. I understand that no one has a perfect faith journey––I hope these posts and articles are resourceful as you dig deeper into your relationship with Jesus. I’ll share a little about myself, but feel free to share about yourself as well. Send me your feedback to any of these blogs in the comment section, OR feel free to share prayer requests and your story at SkylineChurch.org.
I was born and raised in San Diego. I was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals out of High School. Later I attended San Diego Christian College (previously Christian Heritage College). During those years I was playing professional baseball and during the off-season, I played basketball at San Diego Christian College where I studied biblical exposition. That’s also where I met my wife, Janie. I’ve earned two Master’s degrees from Haggard School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University; one in Religion emphasizing in Theology and Ethics, and the other, a Master of Divinity degree. Can you tell that I love to learn? In 2016, I earned a Doctor of Ministry degree at Talbot Theological Seminary.
Overall, I’ve been in full-time ministry for over 23 years. I started out as a Youth Pastor in South County San Diego and then moved to a Young Adult and teaching role at High Desert Church in Victorville, CA. In 2007, I began to build teams to plant a new church called Seven San Diego Church. My passion for equipping others, evangelizing, and seeing the ministry grow to reach the lost continues to fuel me every day. In 2018, the Lord presented me with the opportunity to become the Lead Pastor of Skyline Church in Rancho San Diego. Seven Church is now a campus of Skyline Church. And THIS year, I launched my second book, Faith Over Fear! This book is based on a sermon series I gave in 2020. The response to the sermons was so great and so many people were experiencing tangible growth, that I knew I had to create a book that was equally as practical as the sermon series.
Along with pastor and husband, I’m also the father to three sons; Riley, Aidan, and Levi. You’ll hear about them from time to time in my blogs. You’ll also notice that my background in baseball and sports stands out in my writing. God uses all of our backgrounds to help us spread the Good News of Jesus. Baseball happens to be a BIG part of my life, and I use it to bring people to Christ. My goal is to help people find and follow Jesus SEVEN days a week. I understand it’s not easy to find a church home, and I want to invite you to join us at one of our four campuses. We have two in San Diego, one in Kansas and one online at SkylineChurch.org.
