The Stirring

The Stirring comes at various hours and in various stages. Sometimes I wait for the stirring and it's not there. I hope for the stirring and I'm let down. When The Stirring is not there it forces me to be patient, to wait for God's timing, to rest in His sovereignty, knowing He's in control, not me. If I try to force the stirring then it is me trying to lead God and not the other way around. I hate to get out ahead of God...big mistake. He knows the way and He reminds me that He is the Way all I have to do is stay connected (John 15) and He will work through me. God wants to stir you too, I am confident of that. Just like He stirred the Shepherds on that first Christmas, "When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” Luke 2.15. The Shepherds didn't delay. Once they were sure of God's call they moved forward and went. It would have been easy for the Shepherds to get stuck outside the town of Bethlehem wondering if it was true. A lot of us get stuck in those fields outside Bethlehem. We wonder, is it true? Did God call me to....seek and save the lost....to follow Jesus (what does that mean?)...to give...to serve...to love...on and on...God has said, "Trust Me with your Life." Man, that's huge. Trust you with my whole life? All of it? Yep, all of it. I've decided I'm not going to be stuck outside the town of Bethlehem. God's got my whole life. He has stirred me, and I'm following. What about you? Is He stirring you for something? Remember, stay connected to Him and you'll know what to do when the Stirring comes.

  1. I’m always enlightened by your words. God has a BIG future for you McGarity. If you stir the right ingredients, you’re bound to have something good! Make change; make sense…

  2. I love what you say here. It is so true, there are so many times I try to do things on my own with out the Lord, they don’t all turn out bad, but they aren’t as incredible as when He calls me to something or someone and I get to see Him work, to see Him go before me in the situation and prepare the way. To see how He moves in the hearts of people, is an Awesome thing!
